Challenge: Torch Cutting Metals in Modern Scrap Yards
In today’s scrap yards, torch cutting oversized metal pieces creates significant environmental and safety challenges. The process generates a considerable amount of smoke and particulate matter, posing risks to both the environment and workers. Additionally, concerns about maintaining productivity while addressing visibility and safety issues are paramount.
Solution: Custom High-Speed Propulsion Booth with High-Temperature Baghouse Filtration
To tackle these challenges, Airex developed a custom solution: a High-Speed Propulsion Backdraft Booth integrated with a high-temperature Baghouse filtration system. This innovative design effectively funnels air and smoke away from the work area, channeling them into the Baghouse filtration unit before releasing clean air back into the atmosphere.
The custom booth addresses key concerns, including:
• Environmental Protection: The filtration system significantly reduces harmful emissions from torch cutting and lancing.
• Productivity: The booth is designed to maintain high productivity by improving visibility and ensuring a safe working environment.
• Health & Safety: By mitigating smoke and particulate matter, the system enhances safety, ensuring compliance with visibility and air quality standards.
At the heart of this solution is the Airex Hi-Temp Baghouse system. Equipped with Nomex high-temperature bags, hopper vibrators, and a high-pressure reverse pulse cleaning system, it efficiently combats the pollution generated by the torch-cutting process. Additionally, an integrated baffle dropout and spark arrestor further enhance the system’s filtration capabilities, ensuring that even the smallest sparks and particles are contained.
Conclusion
Airex’s custom approach not only meets but exceeds environmental, productivity, and safety standards in modern scrap yards, providing a robust and sustainable solution to the challenges of metal torch cutting.
