Engineered to deliver the industry’s best temperature uniformity, the FEBX500 Heat Treated Wood Kiln by Airex Industries outperforms the competition with its superior airflow and precise temperature control.
Torrefaction is a specialized heat treatment process that enhances the properties of various wood species. Unlike standard drying, torrefaction is conducted at high temperatures ranging from 160°C to 250°C (320°F to 490°F), transforming the wood into a highly durable, water-resistant material. This process increases the wood’s resistance to decay, fungal attacks, and insects, while also making it hydrophobic—causing water to bead on the surface without penetrating the fibers. No chemical treatments are needed for outdoor use, and torrefaction can even alter the wood’s color, giving lighter varieties rich tones from golden honey to deep, dark hues.
Airex Industries has developed a state-of-the-art biomass torrefaction oven specifically for this process. Designed for seamless operation, this advanced oven requires minimal human intervention—just load the wood, input the settings, and let the fully automated system handle the rest!
