Saputo

Saputo, one of the top ten dairy processors in the world, produces, markets, and distributes a wide array of dairy products of the utmost quality, including cheese, fluid milk, extended shelf-life milk and cream products, cultured products, and dairy ingredients.

Challenge

Saputo operates a dairy products facility, where milk powder is generated during filling and weighing operations. The accumulation of fine dairy powder inside the facility created several operational and safety concerns, including:

  • Airborne powder contamination in production areas
  • Employee exposure to fine dairy powder
  • Housekeeping and sanitation issues
  • Increased fire and explosion hazards associated with combustible organic dust

The system is requirement for food-grade stainless steel ductwork and hoods, and they needed a roof-mounted dust collector with dedicated structural support
A new dust collection solution was required to capture milk powder from approximately 20 pick-up points while maintaining a clean, safe, and food-grade production environment.

Solution

A centralized cartridge dust collection system was engineered and supplied to capture milk powder from filling and weighing operations.
The installation of the PS-36 SB dust collection system improved dust capture from the filling and weighing operations while helping maintain a cleaner and safer dairy production environment.

Key benefits include:

  • Improved employee health and safety
  • Reduction of airborne milk powder levels
  • Cleaner and more sanitary production areas
  • Reduced combustible dust accumulation
  • Food-grade stainless steel ductwork and hood design
  • Efficient dust capture from approximately 20 pick-up points
  • Safer operation with explosion and fire protection
  • Space optimization through roof-mounted collector installation
  • Filtered air recirculation back into the facility
